The company provides quality custom built switchgear for a wide variety of applications for the local and international markets.
General Switchgear & Controls Ltd. is a privately owned Canadian company formed in 1992 by acquiring the assets of PCG switchgear who manufactured switchgear for the industrial and utility markets since 1968. The product range has since been upgraded to use modern materials and the latest in engineering and manufacturing technology.
In November ’94 General Switchgear acquired Markham Electric a renowned manufacturer of metal clad / enclosed switchgear and outdoor substation equipment i.e. switches up to 800kv. Since its inception, General Switchgear has aggressively developed arc resistant switchgear and ancillary products.
General Switchgear has successfully tested, developed and installed arc resistant switchgear type A, B, C and C+ for 5kV, 15kV, 25kV & 38kV. In addition, General Switchgear has also successfully tested both fused and non-fused load break switches, including a two- hi design to satisfy the arc resistant requirement.
Ancillary arc resistant products include specifically designed arc resistant outdoor houses and arc resistant bus ducts. We supply quality switchgear to meet your requirements and stringent international standards and are certified to manufacture switchgear assemblies and bus ducts up to 38kV and 5000 Amp. We specialize in the design and manufacture of electrical equipment, control and distribution systems and utilize only type-tested components from world-class manufacturers. This ensures that the equipment you receive is best suited for your application and all the parameters have been finely tuned to provide you with an optimum system. We can provide design assistance, drawings, technical specifications, relay co-ordination studies and prices for your requirement at any stage in your schedule.
